Numerous churches were built in villages during the Árpád era (11th-13th century) since the laws of Stephen I. ordered already in the beginning of the 11th century to build one church in every ten villages.

The Roman style church of Egregy is the most beautiful example of the Hungarian village churches pasted in the landscape reflecting the most developed type in terms of proportions, mass formation and floor plan setup.

From downtown you can access the wine cellars in 25 minutes on foot. In the evenings the wine cellars and restaurants built in between the rows of vines are magnets for the guests of the town.

We provide plenty of materials from the relics collected by Vilmos Lipp in the years of 1880 in Hévízdomb founding a 1200 graves from the Avar era and also the most beautiful set of relics collected from the rich crematory graves of the early Principate era in 2009 from the part of route 76 bypassing Hévíz.

In the ruin park tourist can find dry Kneipp step stone paths on the gestures of unexcavated walls hiding in the ground for relief of their body and soul.

Wine tastings and gastronomy

The high number of restaurants and their diverse menus are able to satisfy all the needs of the visitors to the town. You can dine in a tavern, little or larger restaurant, or even participate in an open-air pig-roast. The delicious flavours of the Zala region may be enjoyed when accompanied by Gypsy music as well.  Furthermore, the lovers of the traditional combination of black pudding, sausage and mustard may also indulge in their passion as these specialities are offered in the catering units. After a delicious dinner, what can be more enjoyable than tasting some nice wine in pleasant company?
