The State Religion of Rome
Theodosius the Great was responsible for the intellectual and cultural unity of the empire. In his religious decree issued in 380 he made Christianity the state religion, he abolished the former legislation allowing the persecution of Christians and made steps against the Arian heretics (those disclaiming Trinity) in the faith of the First Council of Nicaea held in 325 A.D. .
The Appearance of Hungarians
Archaeologists say that after a “shady period” following the cessation of the Roman reign folks of the late migration settled in Egregy and were present in the 8th-9th century. On the territory between the Church of Jesus' Heart (Jézus Szíve templom) and the peat valley (tőzeges völgy) wall remains of a primitive fortress and a manor from the Carolingian Period from the 9th century were found. After the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin Hungarian people found their home also on Egregy.
